Games Workshop Games

Warlords play a variety of Games Workshop systems. Whether you are just starting your first army, want to relive an old edition, or practice for an upcoming tournament, Warlords is a great place to throw dice with terrain and battlemats for members to use.

  • In the grim darkness of the far future… there probably won’t be a Wellington Warlords. But until that time we’ll keep playing 40k, 30k and specialist games.

Most Saturday Meetings see several 40k games happening.

Join our Discord to find out more or ask about a game.

  • Warlords has a very active Kill Team community and is an active part of the broader Wellington Kill Team Community.

Most Saturday meetings there are several games happening, there is a wider wellington league that runs, and we run several one day Kill Team events throughout the year, and Call to Arms is the biggest Kill Team event on our calendar.

The community is friendly and happy to teach.

  • Warhammer: The Horus Heresy is a more classic Games Workshop rule-set experience than modern 40k, with a more narrative focus.

Wellington has a reasonably active 30k community and there are several two day events throughout the year as well as at Call to Arms.

  • A modern release of the classic Warhammer Fantasy Battles - the classic Fantasy rank and flank battle game.

The Wellington scene for this has seen a reasonable amount of interest and there are several events for the system popping up.

  • In addition to The Old World, nostalgia is a powerful thing. We still have a number of people at the club who like to put their Warhammer Fantasy army on the table and roll some dice. Be it with a classic ruleset, or with Warhammer armies project.

  • The New Zealand Middle Earth League is Pretty active and organised with a yearly calendar of events.

Generally the NZMEL’s Facebook is the primary source of announcements, although a list of upcoming MESBG events for the League can be found here: https://tournaments.tabletopadmiral.com/league/nzml?tab=upcoming

So it continues to be a well supported and played game system receiving new rules and miniatures.

  • From the shattered Old World rose a new Fantasy Wargame, and its smaller brethren - Spearhead.

AoS has a good following in Wellington with a number of events through the year, and Spearhead is well enjoyed at Warlords

  • These games are GW classics and periodically people at the club will set up campaigns or events for these systems.

  • Adeptus Titanicus, Legion Imperialis, and Aeronautica Imperialis are here for people who want a game about the bigger scale conflicts.

Bloodbowl has a strong loyal player base in Wellington (and New Zealand more broadly) with both leagues and larger events. So spike that ball and roll some dice.

We even have a bunch of people with Battlefleet Gothic fleets.
